Summer Comiket C88 Day 3 final

Final day of Comiket arrives as I'm struggling to get out of bed.  My face is already burnt and my legs are sore.  I must make it for the last day!  As I get to Tokyo Big sight, I start to ask why am I here.  The lines today are extremely long, but luckily there's some clouds today.

@otoginekomu as Peorth.  As a teenager, I used to watch ああっ女神さまっ Ah! My Goddess which was very detailed anime at the time.  This cosplay is well played.

I've met @mosaka_mikoto before at the previous Comiket 87.  Her friend @tonkotukun0329 speaks English enough for us to communicate.  It was a fun experience.

@0116malko I get to see her again for the last day, but I don't think she remembered me after seeing so many people.  I'll just keep taking pictures :D

What I've learned from the 3 days, don't do it unless you're absolutely crazy.  I am crazy :)  Just be sure to take breaks and stay hydrated.  If you stop sweating, take shelter.  No one wants to fall victim to the sun.  Also bring some sun screen.  SPF 30 is good enough.  Would I go to another Summer Comiket?  Probably not.  I would rather plan for the winter which I'm going again for C89.  If you want to view my previous pictures from C87, you can follow this link.

Summer Comiket C88 Day 2

Rise and shine!  Another day of of Comiket has arrived.  I get woken up by Markara saying its time to go.  I get my butt off the bed and get ready still half asleep.  I double check everything to make sure I will survive the day.  Bring a couple of drinks, a towel, a cold spray, and a snack.  Eat breakfast before heading there.  

As soon as I arrived, I saw an ambulance.  Someone so early in the morning had already had some health issue.  I knew the heat was going to get someone with this many people, but didn't think it would be so early in the day.  I hope that person was alright.

Now walking through to the entrance, some photographers go through crazy lengths to get the right picture, even getting on the scorching hot ground.

I head over to the cosplay area and DAMN I see this badass Nikumi cosplayer.  Line was so long, but I'm glad I waited.

Summer Comiket C88 Day 1

The big event finally comes!  This is what I came to Japan for.  Summer Comiket aka Summer Komi located at Tokyo Big Sight.  The event goes by numbers for each one they do and this number is 88.  C88 is a short way of saying it.  This event is free and lasts 3 days long.  The number of people who go is insane!  You'll get stuck in a few spots where everyone is squished together and in this heat, it's not pleasant.

As I make way through the crowd, I head for the cosplay area.  I first found someone I've seen from my last trip, I quickly rush to her and introduce myself.  She did not speak english at all so with my few Japanese words, I insisted she took my business card and hope she still remembers me.  Now onto the pics.

First stop Japan

I've been to Japan before, my friends Yoichi and Stephanie picked me and my other friend Markara from the airport.  Markara is the man!  He helped me get this online job where I can work anywhere.  After being picked up from the airport, we head to Nishikasai where we get to eat a buffet of meat.  As I'm tired from the flight, my appetite wasnt so great, but I guess I ate enough.  We then head over to my old share house at Nishikasai Social Residence.  They were having a party that night and we were allowed to hang out.  I was greeted with many old faces and new ones.  I actually love that sharehouse, it's worth getting if it's your first time in Japan.  After the party, we head back to Yoichi's place and get ready for bed.  Me and Markara wake up and start heading towards our new place in Koenji.  After we check in, we went on a ramen hunt.  Apparently Koenji has a ramen street.  We start heading that way after dropping off our luggage.

The ramen place we chose is called 田ぶし(tabushi.)  When eating ramen, its best to taste the broth right away.  It usually tells me if it's good or not.  This place was delicious!


After getting lunch I left to go buy my essentials in this new sharehouse.  The place is called Fastroom Koenji.  If you like hostel style sharehouse, this place is cheap.  They also have semi-private and private rooms.  Upstairs was designated for women only.

At night, we were welcomed with a 流しそうめん(nagashi somen) which are noodles sent down a bamboo shoot cut in half with water.




As much as I wanted to stay and chat, I still needed to buy bedding before the end of the night comes.

The next day comes along and I went ahead and assembled my bicycle.  Mine is the black one from Respect Cycles.


At night we left to visit a couple of other friends Perry and Jon.  Perry had asked Markara to bring back some Frosted Flakes because in Japan, some things are just not available.  


We all went to go eat at my favorite street in Shinjuku.  Yakiniku street is what I call it

If you haven't heard of Shinjuku, it's a city full of bright lights and also a place where Robot Restaurant is located.  



Next stop is in one of my favorite towns, Akihabara.  I usually stop by the UDX building to do some car spotting and it never lets me down.  Here is a very rare car, the Renault Clio V6

This Honda CRZ is what they call 痛車(itasha) style.  Where a car is decorated with anime, manga, or game designed vinyl.
